Crown Street Camera Collective

Crown Street Camera Collective

The Crown Street Camera Collective started in 2022, and we’d love anyone from the Gorbals to join us in sharing stories through photography. Whether you use a smartphone or any kind of camera, everyone’s welcome! With funding we intend to host photo contests, fun workshops to sharpen your skills, and friendly meetups to enjoy photos that celebrate our community.

Points

This idea brings the Gorbals community together, encouraging creativity and connection through photography. It gives people of all ages and backgrounds a chance to share their unique perspectives, learn new skills, and celebrate the rich stories of the area. By fostering inclusivity and pride, it strengthens community bonds and showcases the Gorbals in a positive light.

Very much in favour of this. There is also the opportunity to do photo walks around the Gorbals and further afield, with possible link ups with other local community groups, the Gorbals History Group.

What a great idea creating opportunities for connections and fun for all age groups...the opportunity to be creative... see things differently....exiting

The Camera Collective was formed out of the 'Gorbals Today' and 'Oscar Marzarol's Gorbals' photography projects currently exhibited in Gorbals Library. We want to engage with the wider Gorbal's community and invite you to come join us. We're also keen to support local community groups, as we did with the Laurieston Community Council at the Gorbals fair in June 2024, using the power of photography to tell their stories and document their activities.

Great Idea, for potential Photographers in the making, to people who just love taking photos, great way to meet, learn about our local history through past photographs, inspire others. Go further afield. Even make videos. Exciting times ahead! 😁📷

Bringing people together to share memories, ideas and creativity through the readily accessible medium of photography can only be a good thing for the Gorbals community, it’s a great idea
